For a better firmware-based solution in the future, I suggest that at startup, the thermistor is checked as follows: read bed temperature, send 20-second pulse of heat to bed, read bed temperature again, compare to expected temperature rise (based on heat capacity of bed, or real-world measurements). I switched the bed and hot end wires (as sugg by NilByMouth), and got the reversed readings (ie. hot bed says 22, and hot end says 129). So, that points to the sensor being faulty, right?
